Select by Product Characteristics, Not Rated Speed Alone
Quick answerThe core of the metered filling machine is to "stablely feed a specified amount of material into the container within an acceptable error." For liquids that are watery, viscous, foamy, contain particles or are prone to dripping, the measurement required is different from the valve nozzle. Send a sample or provide physical properties first, and the selection is more accurate than directly asking how many bottles per minute.

HOLY-AN provides automatic liquid filling and whole-plant planning; if the demand is for vacuum filling of meat, sausages and other foods, the Food Machinery Department will separately evaluate TALAY and other equipment.
Four Common Metering Methods
| way | Suitable for the situation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Piston positive displacement | Materials with medium to high viscosity that require a fixed volume | Piston and valve parts cleaning, wear and particle size |
| pump type | Various viscosities, gear, peristaltic and other pump types can be selected according to the material | Pump material, shear, piping and suction settings |
| time/flow type | The liquidity is relatively stable and I hope to change specifications quickly. | Changes in feed pressure and viscosity will affect stability |
| Weighing type | Acceptance based on weight or large volume filling | Need to consider the stability of the weighing platform, fast and slow feeding and rhythm |
Ten Data Points to Prepare Before Requesting a Quote
- Material name, composition and safety data.
- Viscosity and its variation with temperature.
- Whether it is bubbling, drawing, dripping, settling or containing particles.
- Single filling volume and allowable error.
- Container material, diameter, height, shape and sample.
- Capacity and shifts per minute/hour.
- Wetted materials, hygiene and chemical resistance requirements.
- Refueling, cleaning and emptying methods.
- On-site power, gas, space and environmental zoning.
- Whether the front and rear sections include unpacking, capping, capping, sealing, labeling and inspection.
Production-Line Planning and Acceptance
The indicated speed of a single machine is not equal to the production capacity of the entire line. Feed tank refilling, container supply, filling, capping, labeling and cartoning should be calculated at the same beat, and time for line change and cleaning should be reserved. PLC/touch interface can manage recipes, parameters and alarms, but sensors, valves and mechanisms still need to be designed according to materials.
Actual materials and containers are used for acceptance, and continuous sampling is performed to check the filling amount, dripping, bottle contamination, container damage and shutdown recovery; the test conditions, speed and acceptance range are written into the specification.
For liquid automatic filling, please submit material characteristics, filling volume, container photos and production capacity; for meat vacuum filling, please indicate to the Food Machinery Department.
Contact HOLY-AN on LINEMetered Filling Machine FAQ
Which Metering Methods Are Used in Filling Machines?
Common metering methods include piston displacement, gear or peristaltic pumps, timed or flow-meter control, and gravimetric filling. Selection depends on viscosity, particulates, foaming, hygiene requirements and allowable error.
Can Highly Viscous Liquids Be Filled Automatically?
Yes, but pump type, pipe diameter and filling nozzle must be selected for viscosity, temperature and rheology. Heated lines, agitation or bottom-up filling may be required.
Why Does Fill Volume Vary?
Common causes include unstable supply level or pressure, entrained air, temperature-related viscosity changes, worn valves, dripping, and inaccurate container positioning. Check each factor systematically.
