Can SF-X ship directly from China to Taiwan?
Yes. SF-X is one of the most common regulated couriers for cross-strait shipping, offering both personal and commercial China-to-Taiwan service, with fairly stable transit times when flights run normally and customs goes smoothly. But there are a few key points to know first:
- Recipient real-name required: for personal parcels to Taiwan, the recipient must first download the "EZ WAY" app and complete real-name verification (binding their mobile number and national ID number).
- Declared value cap of about RMB 2,000 per shipment (a single indivisible item may exceed this), and you are often asked to attach a proof of purchase from within the past 1-2 months (e-invoice or order screenshot showing the transaction/payment reference number and amount).
- Regulated courier, stricter inspection: SF-X usually requires an "open-box inspection" at drop-off and enforces customs regulations strictly.
Under Ministry of Finance Customs Administration rules, all simplified-declaration imported express goods must complete "advance confirmation of authorization" before declaration: once the recipient's name and mobile number filed by the broker pass real-name matching, the EZ WAY app pushes the declaration data, and only after the recipient checks it and taps "declaration matches" will customs release the goods. No tap in the app means no clearance. The rule exists to prevent personal data being used for impersonated declarations โ per the Customs Administration's press release on cracking down on impersonated declarations and fully implementing advance confirmation of authorization, impersonated-declaration cases have fallen sharply from 1,723 in 2023. It applies to both SF-X direct shipping and consolidation.
What SF-X services ship to Taiwan?
SF-X cross-strait shipping mainly comes in two speed tiers, differing by whether they go by "air" or "sea":

A courier service with a delivery-time guarantee, split into ground and air by region and drop-off time; cross-strait shipments mostly go by air, reaching Taiwan in about 2-4 working days. If a delay is due to SF-X itself, the sender can claim an equivalent-value shipping e-voucher as compensation. Best for urgent items, a single store, and high-value goods.

Lower-priced, aimed at customers with looser time requirements. Cross-strait shipments mostly go by sea, taking about a week or more. If the tracking sits for a long time at "loaded / dispatched to port" and goes days without updating (sailing at sea), it is usually sea freight.

How is SF-X shipping calculated?
SF-X cross-strait shipping is made up of several parts, and the actual amount follows the live quote on the SF-X website/app (cross-strait rates adjust by weight, destination and time slot, and direct-shipping unit prices are usually higher than consolidation):
- Chargeable weight takes the greater: compare "actual weight" with "volumetric weight" and bill on whichever is heavier.
- Volumetric weight formula: length(cm) ร width(cm) ร height(cm) รท 6000 = volumetric weight(kg). Bulky, lightweight goods (such as clothing and toys) are easily inflated by volumetric weight.
- Base weight + added weight: one price for the first weight tier, then an added charge for each further tier (conversions differ by route).
- Possible surcharges: fuel surcharge, remote areas, oversized items, etc.

2Receive the app push before arrival and tap "declaration matches"
From 2026/3/1, "advance confirmation of authorization" must be completed before declaration. After the app pushes the declaration data, if it matches your actual purchase, tap "declaration matches" and customs will release the goods. No tap means no clearance.
3Duties and duty-free allowance
For personal-use imports, up to 6 times within six months and with a customs value within NT$2,000 are usually duty-free; anything over that, or dutiable or controlled goods, is taxed or inspected. What can't SF-X ship?
Whether by SF-X direct shipping or consolidation, Taiwan customs' prohibited and restricted items are the same and cannot be shipped, commonly including:
- Absolutely prohibited: meat, eggs, fresh produce, live animals and plants, firearms and ammunition, drugs, counterfeit goods.
- Requires inspection / controlled: power banks, Bluetooth speakers, LEDs and the like require BSMI (BSMI controlled item list); goods containing lithium batteries are restricted by air and mostly must go by sea and be declared.
- Prone to disputes: medicines and health supplements have quantity limits, and perfume/alcohol-based items are restricted.
