China to Taiwan Shipping Calculator 2026

⚡ Quick answer: how much is China to Taiwan freight?

Sea starts at NT$25/kg (10–14 days), sea express at NT$50/kg (5–10 days), and air at NT$100/kg (3–5 days); billable weight is the greater of actual and volumetric weight. SF price and transit estimates must be checked live using the real origin, Taiwan destination, weight, dimensions, shipping date and service. The NT$2,000 low-value exemption has product and frequency exclusions.

Quick answers: the 3 most asked questions about shipping from China to Taiwan

Total China-to-Taiwan cost = cross-border freight + import taxes + any Taiwan last-mile oversize fee, calculated separately. Freight uses billable weight; customs value normally includes goods, international freight and insurance; the HCT oversize fee then depends on packed dimensions, weight and destination. NT$2,000 is a conditional low-value threshold, not an unconditional exemption.

How much does SF Express charge from China to Taiwan?

SF has no fixed per-kilo price or guaranteed transit time that applies to every China-to-Taiwan route; use the official live result.

Enter the actual China origin, Taiwan destination, weight, dimensions, shipping date and service in SF’s official quote tool. For Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan services, volumetric weight is L×W×H (cm) ÷6000 and the greater of actual and volumetric weight is billed. The result may exclude customs duty, formal-declaration service and special handling. See the official quote checklist below.

Can you ship things from mainland China to Taiwan?

Yes, but a shipment must pass China export, carrier acceptance, transport-safety and Taiwan import rules.

Courier, international post and formal import declarations are different routes. Personal simplified express declarations can use EZ WAY online authorization; postal parcels follow a separate postal procedure. Since March 1, 2026, EZ WAY online authorization requires the recipient to verify the item name and declared value and pre-confirm authorization before the broker may file. Low-value exemption rules also exclude frequent imports and certain products. See the Customs single-window guide.

What should I watch out for when a friend in China sends me something?

Gifts sent free of charge by friends and relatives still have to be declared and taxed; customs may determine the duty-paying value by its own assessment.

Assuming that “it was a gift, nobody paid for it” means it is tax-free is a common misconception — import tax is assessed on the goods themselves, regardless of whether a transaction took place. A free gift has no transaction value that can be established under Article 29 of the Customs Act, so customs may, under Articles 31 to 35 of the same Act, assess the duty-paying value using the value of identical or similar goods, the domestic selling price or another reasonable method — and the result is often higher than the “zero” the sender assumed. Ask your friend to include the purchase invoice or a screenshot, and declare the item name and value truthfully; a false declaration may incur a fine and back taxes under the Customs Anti-smuggling Act.

The assessment of the import duty-paying value is not arbitrary: an empirical study that used K-means cluster analysis to examine the fairness of customs valuation found that the duty-paying value of identical goods need not correspond one-to-one with the country of production, and that customs assessment by reasonable methods based on the data obtained is statistically fair (《進口貨物完稅價格與生產國別之實證研究》 [An Empirical Study of Import Duty-Paying Value and Country of Production], catalog D020). Another master's thesis comparing Taiwan's valuation system with the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement analysed 11 rulings on disputes over import duty-paying value and recommended putting the customs consultation mechanism on a statutory footing (catalog D022). Transparency on the freight side has academic backing too: a 2019 National Chengchi University study of cross-border logistics price-comparison platforms lists “opaque degree of information integration” as one of the structural problems of Taiwan's cross-border logistics industry (Kuan Yi-chen, 《跨境物流比價平台營運模式之研究》 [A Study on the Business Model of Cross-border Logistics Price Comparison Platforms], NCCU EMBA master's thesis, 2019, DOI 10.6814/NCCU202101506, catalog D067) — which is why this page lays out the per-kilo rate, volumetric divisor and tax thresholds of all four shipping methods.

China to Taiwan Freight Formula

Freight is calculated by billable weight multiplied by the rate. Billable weight is the greater of actual and volumetric weight.

1. Volumetric weight

Volumetric weight (kg) = L(cm) × W(cm) × H(cm) ÷ 10000

A 50×40×30 cm box is 6 kg by volume.

2. Billable weight

Billable weight = MAX(actual weight, volumetric weight)

Bulky light goods are charged by volume.

3. Total freight

Total freight = billable weight × rate per kg

Sea NT$25/kg, business sea express NT$45/kg, sea express NT$50/kg, air NT$100/kg.

Freight Examples

Example A: storage box

60×40×40 cm, actual 1.5 kg

Volume = 9.6 kg, so billable weight is 9.6 kg

Sea about NT$240; air about NT$960.

Bulky light goods are usually cheaper by sea.

Example B: supplements

20×15×15 cm, actual 4 kg

Volume = 0.45 kg, so billable weight is 4 kg

Sea about NT$100; air about NT$400.

Small heavy goods remain affordable.

Example C: mobile phone

18×10×6 cm, actual 0.4 kg

Volume = 0.11 kg, minimum billable weight applies

Air starts around NT$100.

For urgent higher-value goods, air is practical.

Example D: 1688 apparel batch

20 parcels consolidated, actual 35 kg

Volume 24 kg, so actual 35 kg is used

Sea about NT$875; business sea express about NT$1,575.

B2B restocking can use business sea express for speed.

When to use SF vs consolidation

Consider direct SF shipping for a single urgent document or sample after confirming the live quote, acceptance standard and clearance paperwork.
Consider consolidation for multi-platform parcels, non-urgent goods or larger shipments; compare the actual quote, billable weight, tax and import requirements.
Important: HowBridge Logistics is not affiliated with SF Express. Confirm all price and timing information with SF’s live result and actual acceptance decision.

Tax, Customs and CCC Codes

Courier, postal parcel and formal declaration are different routes

Express imports are grouped by customs value: X2 is a low-value duty-free express shipment up to NT$2,000, X3 is a low-value taxable express shipment from NT$2,001 to NT$50,000, and X4 above NT$50,000 requires a general import declaration. X2 and X3 can normally use simplified declarations, but food, quarantine, inspection or other controlled goods may still require formal clearance and documents. International postal parcels follow a separate postal procedure and should not be mixed with the courier EZ WAY flow.

Exemption and tariff codes

Will the shipping cost be included in the customs duty? How to calculate the customs value

Yes. International freight and insurance are included in customs value. Customs value is normally CIF: goods price (FOB) plus international freight and insurance. A marketplace subtotal below NT$2,000 can therefore cross the threshold after freight or insurance. The exemption also excludes tobacco, alcohol, tariff-quota agricultural goods and the 7th frequent import in each half-year. For personal express simplified declarations using EZ WAY online authorization, since March 1, 2026 the recipient must verify item names and declared value and pre-confirm the authorization; select “declaration mismatch” and ask the broker to correct any error.

ECFA Early Harvest List & Certificate of Origin

Goods imported from China that fall under the ECFA (Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement) "Early Harvest List" (certain textiles, machine parts, chemical raw materials, petrochemicals, etc.) can enjoy 0% or reduced preferential tariffs instead of the standard import tariff rate. However, the preference is not applied automatically — customs declaration must include the dedicated ECFA Certificate of Origin (different from the general Certificate of Origin, CO), and it only applies once verified and approved by Taiwan Customs.

Key points for using the ECFA certificate of origin to claim preferential tariffs:
  • Check the Early Harvest List first: Confirm the goods are on the ECFA Early Harvest List using the CCC/HS Code, otherwise the standard tariff rate still applies.
  • The ECFA certificate of origin is applied for on the China export side: Ask your mainland China supplier to apply through the CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade), official portal co.ccpit.org/front/process.
  • Product name/HS Code must match: The ECFA certificate of origin must be consistent with the import declaration and commercial invoice, otherwise Customs will not apply the preferential rate.

Declare honestly: Falsifying the country of origin or making false declarations is subject to penalties under the Customs Anti-smuggling Act, including back taxes and fines.

For the complete procedure, see Complete Guide to the ECFA Early Harvest List & Certificate of Origin; for origin determination and transshipment rules, see Taiwan Import Origin Rules & Transshipment Guide.

Restricted Items for China to Taiwan Shipping

Restricted goods must pass four checks: China export rules, carrier acceptance, transport-safety rules and Taiwan import controls. “The carrier can move it” does not mean Customs, BSMI, NCC, TFDA or APHIA will permit import. Verify the real item name, material, use, specifications and CCC code, and declare truthfully.

Electrical goods and BSMI: classify by CCC code first

NCC-controlled wireless devices

Liquids and cosmetics

Rates, acceptance and import rules change. Recheck them with the actual product details before shipping.

You can settle it online by card or bank transfer; a successful payment clears the bill automatically, so there is no need to report the last five digits of a transfer. Below are the payment methods currently available, every step of the process, and what online payment on this site may be used for.

Online payment covers freight service fees only

Online payment on this site is used solely to pay consolidated freight and related logistics service fees (international freight, forwarding, domestic delivery, customs clearance and warehousing-related service fees). We do not collect payment for your goods, we do not pay sellers on your behalf, and we are not a party to your transaction with the seller. Payment for items bought on Taobao, Tmall, 1688, Pinduoduo or any other platform must still be made to the seller through that platform as usual. We charge only for the logistics service of moving your goods from the warehouse to you.

Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Taiwan Pay, E.SUN Wallet, ATM transfer and convenience-store code payment are collected through NewebPay; LINE Pay is handled by LINE Pay itself. We do not add any payment processing fee. The amount shown is exactly what you pay. Mobile wallets have device requirements: web-based Apple Pay works only in Safari, Google Pay needs Android or Chrome, and Samsung Pay needs a Samsung device or Samsung Internet; on unsupported browsers the checkout simply does not show that option.

Convenience-store barcode payment and WebATM are not yet available. Please use one of the methods above for now.

How online payment works

  1. A freight bill is issued after your parcels ship

Once your parcels have been received at the consolidation warehouse, packed and shipped, the system issues a freight bill for that batch, covering international freight, forwarding and domestic delivery charges.

  2. Sign in and open "My Bills"

Sign in to your account and open My Bills to see the amount due, the number of parcels and a line-by-line breakdown of the charges before you pay.

  3. Tap "Pay Now" to open the secure checkout

The checkout shows the parcels being settled and the total due once more, and lists the available payment methods. Amounts are always calculated on the server, so they never vary by device or browser.

  4. Choose a payment method and complete payment

You are then taken to the payment page for the method you chose. Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are completed on the NewebPay page; choosing LINE Pay takes you to the LINE Pay payment page, where you simply confirm in the LINE app; choosing ATM transfer gives you a dedicated virtual account, bank code and payment deadline; choosing convenience-store code payment gives you a payment code to print the slip at a store kiosk and pay at the counter. Please complete non-instant payments before the deadline. If you choose Taiwan Pay or E.SUN Wallet, a QR code appears — pay by scanning it in the matching app; the page will not return to our site afterwards, and your bill updates once the payment notification arrives.

  5. The bill clears automatically

On successful payment the gateway notifies us immediately and the bill switches to paid, so there is no need to report the last five digits of a transfer. ATM transfers update automatically once the bank posts the funds.

Payment security and things to note

All payments are completed on the NewebPay or LINE Pay payment page. We never receive or store your full card number or security code, and every connection is TLS-encrypted. If you have paid but the bill has not updated yet, please do not pay again: methods that are not instant take time to clear by design. Contact customer service and we will check it for you.

China to Taiwan Freight FAQ

How much is China to Taiwan shipping?
Freight is roughly NT$25/kg by sea to NT$100/kg by air. Sea consolidation is usually the cheapest for apparel, furniture and non-urgent goods.
What is the freight formula?
Total freight = MAX(actual weight, L×W×H÷10000) × rate per kg. Bulky light goods are charged by volumetric weight.
Is SF Express more expensive than consolidation?
For mid-size, bulky or multi-platform consolidated shipments, consolidation is often cheaper. SF can be useful for urgent documents or samples.
Does China to Taiwan freight include import tax?
No. HowBridge's freight charge is purely freight and does not include import duty or VAT. Import duty and VAT are assessed by Customs, borne by the recipient, and collected in cash on delivery by HCT Logistics — HowBridge neither advances nor pays them on your behalf. Taiwan customs, EZWay and tariff-code rules still apply.
Can Taobao, 1688, Pinduoduo and JD parcels ship together?
Yes. Parcels from different platforms can arrive at the same Shenzhen warehouse and be consolidated.
What items cannot ship from China to Taiwan?
Do not decide by product name alone. Check China export rules, carrier acceptance, transport safety and Taiwan import controls. Meat products and animal-quarantine items may not be imported by post. Seeds are plant-quarantine items—not universally banned—but may require an exporting-country phytosanitary certificate and prior permit. Ordinary medicines sent by post or courier require prior approval; controlled drugs may not be sent by post or courier.
Can SF Express from Mainland China be sent to Taiwan?
Yes, subject to SF acceptance and Taiwan import rules. Use SF’s official quote and acceptance tools with the actual origin, Taiwan destination, weight, dimensions, shipping date, service and item details. The result is an estimate; customs duty, formal-declaration service and special handling may cost extra.
How long does it take to send ShunX Express from mainland China to Taiwan?
There is no fixed time for every route. Use SF’s estimate based on origin, destination, weight, dimensions, shipping date and service. Remote areas, islands, clearance, inspection, holidays, weather or declaration errors can add time.
What information is needed for an SF official quote?
Prepare the China origin, Taiwan destination, actual weight, outer-carton length, width and height, shipping date and item details. For Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan services, volumetric weight is L×W×H (cm) ÷6000 and the greater of volumetric and actual weight is billed.
