Participation reached 24.3 million in 2025, up more than fivefold from 4.2 million in 2020; core players (playing 8+ times a year) grew from 1.4 million to 7.5 million. Nearly all brand innovation and new-model launches happen in the US market first.
• Fuller product lineups: pro-level models, newest releases and limited editions from brands like Selkirk, JOOLA and Paddletek typically land first and in full range on US brand sites and specialty retailers.
• Taiwan retail is mostly entry-level: what is available in Taiwan is largely entry-level lines and a handful of popular models — specific advanced models often need to be bought through overseas retailers.
• Demo culture: US tennis/pickleball specialty retailers commonly offer demo programs, giving buyers more try-before-you-buy options.
• Compare prices item by item: exchange rates, promotions, shipping and taxes all shift constantly — landed cost should be calculated from that checkout page plus Taiwan-side taxes on a per-item basis; never assume "buying from the US is always cheaper."

Which pickleball brands are there? 2026 major brands at a glance

The 2026 pickleball paddle market is led by brands including JOOLA, Selkirk, CRBN, Six Zero, Franklin, Paddletek, Engage, Gearbox and Onix.

Selkirk and JOOLA are the most common among competitive players; brands that appear most often on the pro tours (PPA Tour, MLP) include Selkirk, JOOLA, Engage and CRBN. The USA Pickleball official approved-paddle list now covers more than 5,300 models. Products broadly split into three lines: all-court thermoformed carbon paddles, foam-infused power paddles, and soft-feel, high-spin control paddles.

Taiwan retail mostly carries entry-level lines only; pro-level models are still fullest on US brand sites and specialty retailers. Before picking a brand, think through your level and playstyle first — beginners should prioritize sweet-spot size and forgiveness, while advanced players should weigh face material, thickness (commonly 14mm/16mm) and weight balance.

Does Selkirk have a distributor in Taiwan? Where can you buy it?

Selkirk has no single official general distributor in Taiwan, but some retailers already carry it; model range and pricing are still more complete on the US official site and specialty retailers.

Current Taiwan retail landscape: large hypermarkets have carried Selkirk's SLK-series entry paddle sets (two paddles + balls + carry bag), and pickleball specialty shops and sporting goods stores carry models like Vanguard, Halo and LABS. The difference is breadth — Taiwan retail focuses on entry-level and a few popular models, while Selkirk's own site and US specialty retailers carry a fuller lineup. Ordering a specific model or a full bundle often requires buying through a US retailer. Retail availability and models change, so confirm stock before ordering.

When shipping back to Taiwan from the US, mind the tax base: import duty is calculated on CIF (goods price + international freight + insurance), not just the listed price; anything over NT$2,000 in dutiable value is taxable. Paddles fall under Chapter 95 (sporting goods) of the Customs Import Tariff; the actual tariff code is subject to Customs' determination at the time of clearance (see the tax section below).

Does Wilson make pickleball paddles?

Yes. Besides tennis racquets, Wilson also has a pickleball paddle lineup.

The pickleball paddle series currently featured on Wilson's official site are Vesper (flagship, carbon fiber frame + Strikefoam core), Blaze (extended shape, speed- and power-oriented), Cadence (control and precision), and Fierce; the Tempo series is still sold but no longer a headline model. The current lineup and versions on sale are subject to Wilson's official site at any given time.

For players already using Wilson tennis racquets who are moving into pickleball, grip feel and accessory compatibility are an advantage; however, paddle weight and swing weight logic differ from tennis racquets, so a real demo is still recommended.

Below are common US retail channels for paddles and racquets. Shared principle: first set the shipping country to Taiwan to test whether direct shipping is possible, then check the final checkout page item by item — whether an item can ship and how much freight and tax will be charged both depend on that checkout result, and this page does not substitute for any platform's official terms.

Tariffs and taxes for importing paddles into Taiwan

The first-column import duty rate for both tennis racquets and pickleball paddles is 5%, plus 5% business tax; anything over NT$2,000 in dutiable value is taxed on the full amount, and the tax base is CIF (goods + freight + insurance).

The tariff code applied is subject to Customs' determination at the time of clearance; some ball-related subheadings carry import requirements noting that "certain items are subject to mandatory inspection" — before ordering, you can check the applicable rate and import requirements for the specific subheading via our tariff lookup.

1. Confirm the paddle/racquet specFor pickleball paddles, check face material (carbon fiber/fiberglass), thickness (commonly 14mm/16mm), weight and grip size; for tennis racquets, check weight (commonly 285–340g), balance point and string bed spec. Nail down the spec first before comparing prices — different specs are not the same product.
2. Test whether it ships to Taiwan and check the total at checkoutSet the shipping country to Taiwan and confirm, item by item, shipping eligibility, international freight, sales tax and any prepaid duty; most brand official sites do not ship directly to Taiwan, so factor in the cost of any alternative arrangement.

4. Confirm shipping protectionRacquets are easily crushed or bent — confirm the seller uses the original paddle cover and a rigid outer box; if shipping multiple racquets together, confirm the packing method and how dimensional weight is billed.
