Importing radioactive material, nuclear raw material, radioisotopes, or ionizing radiation equipment into Taiwan requires a Nuclear Safety Commission import permit.
For radioactive material, nuclear raw material, nuclear fuel, radioisotopes, or ionizing radiation equipment, apply to the Nuclear Safety Commission before import. Private individuals cannot apply. Customs clearance also requires radiation source document matching.

1. Items requiring an NSC import permit
Under Taiwan radiation protection rules, the following imports require an import permit from the Nuclear Safety Commission:

- Approved veterinary institutions
- Other entities approved by the Nuclear Safety Commission
Applicants must have proper radiation protection measures and responsible personnel, and comply with applicable rules.

Create company and personnel accounts
Create the company account, register qualified radiation protection personnel, and enter the site or equipment location.
Select the correct application category
Choose the category for nuclear raw material, radioisotopes, or ionizing radiation equipment and complete the form.
Upload documents and pay fees
Upload manufacturer safety documents, catalogs, drawings, and transport details for radioactive material, then pay the required fee.
Review, issue, and download the permit
After NSC review, download the permit. It is valid for six months and must match customs clearance records.

6. Customs clearance: radiation source clearance system
After obtaining the permit, the import declaration must pass radiation source import/export clearance document matching. Customs may release the goods after the records match.
