Huaqiangbei Shenzhen Electronics Import to Taiwan Guide
1. What is Huaqiangbei?
Huaqiangbei is an electronics sourcing district in Futian, Shenzhen, with many component and 3C product shops.
You can find passive parts, cables, ICs, graphics cards, motherboards, cases, cooling, dev boards and full systems in different quality tiers and supply channels.
Items that are slow or expensive through Taiwan retail channels may be available closer to source in Huaqiangbei, often with more stock and small-quantity buying options. See also the COMPUTEX import notes.
2. What can you buy in Huaqiangbei?
| Category | Typical items | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Core PC parts | Graphics cards, motherboards, CPUs, memory, SSDs | DIY users, PC builders |
| Cases and cooling | Cases, power supplies, coolers, fans, liquid cooling | Modding and repair |
| Gaming and creator gear | Keyboards, mice, headsets, microphones, lights, capture cards | Gamers, streamers, creators |
| Cables and expansion | Cables, adapters, expansion cards, Mini PCs | General buyers and repair use |
| Development and prototyping | Single-board computers, dev boards, modules, sensors | Makers, studios, trial orders |
| Repair and used goods | Repair parts, discontinued parts, used good-condition items | Repair shops and bargain hunters |
3. Receive your Huaqiangbei goods at the HowBridge Shenzhen warehouse
Whether your goods come from a Huaqiangbei stall, Taobao, 1688 or a factory, have them shipped to your personal HowBridge Shenzhen warehouse address (it ends with an identification code starting with H — do not delete or change it). Once they arrive, consolidate them in the member center and ship via the mainland China → Taiwan route. HowBridge operates only the Shenzhen warehouse and the Taoyuan warehouse, and serves only the mainland China → Taiwan route.
Many sellers, one warehouse
Parts bought from different sellers all go to the Shenzhen warehouse and are shipped to Taiwan together in one consolidated box. Consolidation and packing are free.
Small quantities welcome
Even a few boards or cables can be consolidated. Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length × width × height ÷ 10000), with a minimum of 0.5 kg.
Check tariff and import rules first
We work with AEO-certified customs brokers. Before ordering, use the tariff lookup to check the CCC code and the BSMI (C01 / C02) and NCC (602) codes.
Receive first, pay afterwards
The bill is issued only after your parcel has been signed for in Taiwan and our accounting team has verified it. You can pay online, and an e-invoice is issued automatically.
4. Flow from Huaqiangbei sourcing to Taiwan forwarding
Register free to get your Shenzhen warehouse address and member code.
Ask Huaqiangbei sellers to deliver locally, or enter the warehouse address when buying on Taobao or 1688.
Multiple parcels are consolidated and packed after arriving at the warehouse. Items without batteries can go by air or sea. For lithium-battery items, the available transport options depend on whether the battery is packed on its own (such as a power bank, UN3480) or installed in or packed with the equipment (UN3481), so ask customer service before ordering.
Customs partners help check tariff codes and import rules. See customs timing.
5. Electronics import tax and customs
Import tax on electronic parts is often low. Taiwan participates in the WTO Information Technology Agreement, so many listed IT products have 0% duty.
| Item | Rate or rule | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Import duty | Mostly 0% | Column 1 of our tariff database: laptops and computers (8471.30, 8471.41), computer parts (8473.30), ICs (8542.31), monitors (8528.52), power supplies (8504.40) and headphones (8518.30) are all 0%; lithium-ion batteries (8507.60) are 2.5%. |
| Business tax (VAT) | 5% | (Dutiable value + import duty + any other applicable taxes) × 5%, collected by customs on behalf of the tax authority at import (Article 41 of the Business Tax Act). |
| Low-value exemption | Dutiable value ≤ NT$2,000 | A shipment with a dutiable value of NT$2,000 or less is in principle exempt. Above that threshold, tax is calculated on the whole shipment's dutiable value — not only on the part above NT$2,000. |
| Exemption frequency limit | 6 times per half-year | If the same taxpayer has had more than 6 duty-free releases within a half-year, the low-value exemption no longer applies from the 7th shipment onward. |
6. BSMI, NCC and lithium battery notes
BSMI: inspection exemption for personal-use IT equipment
Codes for laptops, monitors, power supplies and similar goods are mostly C02 (some goods under the code are subject to inspection). For non-commercial personal-use goods, you can apply for an inspection exemption when the total value of the same model on one declaration is US$1,000 or less; for IT equipment above US$1,000 the exemption is also available if the quantity does not exceed 5 units (Article 5, Regulations Governing Exemption of Commodities from Inspection). The exemption for the same model is limited to once every six months (Article 8). See BSMI commodity inspection.
NCC: 2 wireless units per shipment
Products with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi are controlled telecommunications radio-frequency devices (import regulation code 602). When sent by post or express rather than carried in person, up to 2 units per shipment can be imported with a personal-use declaration, without an import approval certificate; 3–10 units require an approval certificate, and each person is limited to 10 units per year (Article 9, Regulations for the Management of Manufacturing, Importing and Reporting of Controlled Telecommunications Radio-Frequency Devices). See NCC radio-frequency device import.
Lithium batteries: confirm the transport options first
Power banks and standalone batteries (UN3480) cannot be carried in the cargo hold of passenger aircraft; batteries installed in or packed with equipment (UN3481) are assessed under the applicable packing instruction. Ask customer service which option is available first; see the lithium battery shipping guide. Breakage of fragile items and battery-containing products is not compensated.
7. Risk checklist: gray goods, refurbished items and fakes
Common sourcing risks
- Refurbished or relabeled parts sold as new, especially GPUs, CPUs and SSDs.
- Used mining GPUs cleaned and sold as good-condition cards.
- High-value new items priced far below market.
- High-value goods without warranty or invoice.
Safer sourcing tips
- Choose reputable stalls or official channels and request warranty and invoice.
- Inspect high-value parts on site or ask sellers for shipping or test videos.
- For high-value shipments, be sure to use anti-static and shock-resistant packaging, and keep the invoice and model information.
- Check CCC codes and import rules before shipment; use an AEO customs broker when needed.
