Shipping skis and snowboards to Taiwan: brands, packing, shipping costs and customs

What should you check before shipping ski equipment bought overseas to Taiwan?

The total cost should include the item price, local taxes, domestic shipping, packing, international shipping, import taxes and customs charges, and delivery in Taiwan. Discounts and price differences compared with Taiwan vary by model year, size and availability; old model prices cannot guarantee savings.

HowBridge primarily provides consolidated shipping from China to Taiwan. For purchases from other countries, first confirm the seller's delivery destinations and the actual carrier. This shopping guide does not mean HowBridge has warehouses in the United States, Canada or Europe.

How should you check snowboards, skis, boots and protective equipment separately?

ItemBefore orderingBefore shipping
Snowboards and skisModel year, length, recommended rider weight and intended useLongest packaged dimension, edge protection and impact protection for tips and tails
Bindings and bootsManufacturer compatibility specifications, size and installation requirementsSecure parts, store screws safely and label the outer carton
Ski jackets and pantsSize, material and return or exchange termsItemize product names, quantities and purchase prices
Helmets and gogglesSize, certification markings and conditionProtect lenses and helmet shells separately; avoid crushing

How do you check specifications for Burton, Salomon, Rossignol, K2 and Atomic?

Use the specification sheet and manual for the exact model year on the brand's official website. A brand name cannot replace sizing guidance or determine customs duty. Do not judge compatibility between snowboards, skis and different binding systems by appearance alone. Have installation or adjustment carried out by a qualified technician following the manufacturer's requirements.

You can compare products on brand websites and at retailers such as Backcountry, evo and REI, but check destination restrictions, returns, warranties and shipping terms for each purchase. Names are listed to help you find information; they do not imply representation, partnership or endorsement of quality.

Are end-of-season discounts and used ski equipment always cheaper overall?

Not necessarily. Compare the same model year, size and included accessories, then add shipping, taxes and return costs. Do not treat member rewards as immediate discounts on every product or assume a fixed discount in a particular month.

For used equipment, request photos of the base, edges, bindings and serial number, and check the repair and damage history. Safety-related equipment needs further inspection by a professional; photos or a seller's description of 'like new' cannot guarantee safety.

Must skis and snowboards travel by sea? How are packing and shipping costs calculated?

Not necessarily. Carrier acceptance depends on the route, weight, dimensions and service. Airlines may also accept ski equipment as passenger baggage, but passenger baggage and international cargo are separate services with different rules.

Provide the packed length × width × height, actual weight, number of packages and goods value. Ask for a quote that itemizes overlength surcharges, minimum charges, packing, destination port charges and final delivery. Premiums, exclusions and claim limits depend on the actual insurance policy or transport contract; there is no universal requirement to 'add 10% insurance'.

  1. Confirm the items, route and carrier size limits before paying.
  2. Protect tips, tails, edges and bindings as appropriate for the equipment, and prevent movement inside the box.
  3. Take photos before and after packing, and retain orders, payment records and product specifications.
  4. Check the carton and equipment on arrival, and report damage within the deadline in the transport contract.

How do customs duty and EZ WAY work when importing ski equipment into Taiwan?

Snowboards, skis, bindings, footwear, clothing and protective equipment may fall under different CCC classifications. Check current duty rates and import requirements using the item's material, purpose, specifications and origin; do not apply 5% customs duty to an entire set automatically. Customs determines the final classification and tax amount.

Low-value import tax relief is assessed on a customs value of no more than NT$2,000 per consignment, subject to a limit of 6 qualifying imports per half-year and other exceptions. An item price below NT$2,000 does not guarantee tax exemption. Passenger personal baggage has separate rules that cannot be used to calculate tax on consolidated shipments.

From 2026/3/1, individuals using EZ WAY real-name verification for online customs authorization of express imports under simplified declarations must confirm authorization in advance. If details are incorrect, contact the customs broker for correction and respond after checking the correct information. Regular cargo under formal declarations must follow the corresponding customs procedures.

Frequently asked questions about shipping ski equipment to Taiwan

Is buying a Burton snowboard overseas always cheaper?

Not necessarily. Compare the same model year and size, including local taxes, domestic and international shipping, packing, import taxes and return costs.

Can I buy a snowboard, bindings and boots as a set?

You can compare sets, but check each item's model, year, size and manufacturer compatibility specifications. Use a qualified technician if installation or adjustment is needed.

How do I calculate a snowboard package's volume?

Multiply the packed length, width and height in meters to get cubic meters. For example, 1.75×0.30×0.15=0.07875 cubic meters. This is only the volume, not the final quote; minimum charges, overlength fees and other charges depend on carrier terms.

Is the customs inspection probability fixed at 5% to 10%?

That cannot be guaranteed. This article has no official evidence sufficient to support a fixed inspection rate for ski equipment. Declare accurately, prepare payment records, product names, quantities and specifications, and submit additional documents when Customs requests them.

Does HowBridge offer a U.S. warehouse for ski equipment forwarding?

This article does not claim to offer a U.S. warehouse service. HowBridge primarily provides consolidated shipping from China to Taiwan. For other origins, first confirm routes and services with the actual carrier.
