Xianyu is a person-to-person second-hand marketplace: sellers ship at different times and item conditions vary, so you cannot choose a forwarder on the per-kilogram price alone. • Do not directly copy the fictional address-entry example in this article. Omitting your personal identifier may require additional checks to link the parcel to your account. First verify the tracking number you preregistered; if the screen indicates that you can claim the parcel, or it still cannot be matched to your account, follow the on-screen instructions or seek customer support.
• Preregistering with the platform order number instead of the courier tracking number: use the mainland China logistics number actually issued by the seller. Check each parcel if one order is split into two boxes.
• Treating arrival photos as authentication: ordinary photos only help check appearance, labels and quantity, not authenticity, function or hidden defects. For professional assessment, use an applicable third-party inspection service on the platform.
• Waiting until consolidated goods reach Taiwan before asking the seller for a return: platform after-sales deadlines start under the rules applicable to that order and are not extended while parcels wait in a warehouse.
• Assuming used or low-priced goods are exempt from tax and inspection: check customs value, exemption exceptions, import rules and inspection conditions separately. Used cameras, phones or wireless appliances containing lithium batteries have additional carriage and import restrictions.
• Comparing only the price per kilogram: Sea freight requires item-specific quotations; for Sea express and Air freight, include volumetric weight, rounding, delivery fees and possible taxes.

How are shipping costs calculated for used Xianyu parcels? Three examples

The figures below are calculated using the current rules in the rate table. They are sample calculations, not real customer cases, and exclude import taxes and fees, domestic shipping within China, remote-area charges and value-added services. Sea express chargeable units = the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length×width×height cm ÷10000), rounded up; Air freight uses actual weight only, rounded up. If the actual weight is under 10 kg, Sea express adds NT$100 and Air freight adds NT$120.

In the second example, the volumetric weight of a large but light box pushes up the charge, so the gap between Sea express and Air freight narrows. Asking sellers to use simple packaging and waiting until everything has arrived before consolidating usually saves the most. Large second-hand furniture is suited to Sea freight: volume is calculated as length×width×height cm ÷28316, starting from NT$25 per kg or NT$150 per cu ft, with the actual amount quoted by customer service according to the goods.

Who handles the Xianyu account, payment and consolidation?

Separate the roles so you know whom to contact if something goes wrong. The buyer maintains the platform account and pays for the transaction; the seller supplies the agreed goods and sends them to the mainland China receiving address; Xianyu and the applicable payment services provide transaction, payment and dispute-handling services under the product and transaction terms in use; HowBridge handles warehousing, consolidation, cross-border transport and import-declaration assistance. HowBridge does not purchase on your behalf, pay for purchases, or collect or advance payment for goods; import tax can be paid through the “HowBridge collects and pays” option (handling fee NT$40). How should you enter the Shenzhen warehouse address, and where must you retain the identifier?

Sign in to HowBridge and click “Shenzhen Consolidation Warehouse Receiving Address” on the homepage to copy your current personal address. Keep the entire identifier at the end, then check each field as you paste it into the Xianyu order. Do not use an article’s example as an actual delivery address. Names and phone numbers on mainland China e-commerce labels are often masked with asterisks, while addresses remain relatively complete. The identifier at the end helps warehouse scanning match the parcel to your account. This is HowBridge’s process, not a platform guarantee; a missing identifier may still require manual claiming. The following is a format illustration with a deliberately invalid placeholder code; it cannot be used for shipping:

After dispatch, how should you organize tracking numbers and parcel preregistration?

Keep a cross-reference for each order: platform order → mainland China courier and tracking number actually used by the seller → items and quantities inside that package → matching consolidation preregistration record. Order numbers and courier tracking numbers serve different purposes. If one order is split into two boxes, check each parcel rather than using one tracking number for all goods. Preregister on the preregistration tab in “My Consolidation”, with the tracking number, item description, quantity and price actually paid. These details also support the later customs declaration.

• The screen says the parcel has arrived: check the awaiting-forwarding list instead of adding another preregistration.
• The screen says it can be claimed: the parcel has arrived but is not assigned to an account. Enter the correct tracking number to claim it; entering any number does not guarantee a successful claim.
• Tracking shows signed delivery, but the system has no record: provide the tracking number, signing time and your identifying details to support for investigation.
• Incorrect or duplicate tracking number: an existing number generally cannot be freely reassigned. Contact support with genuine order and logistics evidence.

What can arrival photos confirm, and when should forwarding be paused first?

After arrival, the system provides condition, weight, dimensions and available arrival photos. These photos can help check the outer box, shipping label and quantity; they do not constitute functional testing or authentication. While your parcel remains in the Shenzhen warehouse and has not been forwarded, you may request “Photography” for particular angles. The system displays a fee based on the parcel’s rounded-up weight; after payment, the warehouse takes photos from multiple angles for you to view. For a quantity check, request “Item Counting”, charged by the number of items to count. If the item description, quantity or appearance differs from the agreement, first ask support whether that dispatch can be paused and contact the seller or platform within the platform’s deadline.

How should you compare the full costs of Sea freight, Sea express and Air freight?

Prepare six pieces of information: item name and use; materials and sensitive components (batteries, liquids, magnets); quantity; packed length, width, height and gross weight; Taiwan destination; and timing needs. Only starting prices are published for Sea freight (from NT$25 per kg or NT$150 per cu ft; volume = length×width×height cm ÷28316), and the actual amount is quoted by customer service according to the goods; Sea express and Air freight are charged according to the selected plan. When comparing, check each cost item below one by one, and do not add again anything already included in the quotation.

What declaration documents and import checks do used goods require?

“Used” describes condition; it does not grant exemption from taxes, inspection or import restrictions. Keep the transaction page, payment records, specifications and defect descriptions. Confirm with your customs-declaration representative which invoice or packing list is required for this shipment. Do not declare the goods simply as “miscellaneous”; declare accurately according to the actual goods, transaction and applicable rules. Customs generally determines customs value from the price actually paid or payable, but does not guarantee unconditional acceptance of the marketplace price. You cannot arbitrarily declare a lower value merely because an item is used. Check in this order:

• Item description, material and function → Find the appropriate CCC tariff classification and import rules.
• Origin and rules for importing mainland China goods → Some items are prohibited or allowed only under conditions.
• Regulatory permits, inspection and quarantine → Inspection exemptions for regulated goods depend on use, value and quantity; used status does not automatically exempt them.
• Carriage conditions → Goods containing lithium batteries, liquids or powders must be declared in advance and meet the carrier’s rules. Counterfeit or infringing goods are prohibited from shipment.
