Taobao Shipping to Taiwan Guide
Taobao does not ship to Taiwan directly, so you need a consolidation service: order on Taobao and send it to the consolidation warehouse → repack into one box → air or sea freight to Taiwan → customs clearance → home delivery. The cost is the consolidation freight (charged on volumetric weight) plus import duties and taxes; a customs value of NT$2,000 or less is generally duty-free, but that does not apply if you import more than 6 times within six months. Power banks and lithium batteries can travel by consolidation, but not by post.
Register to get the Shenzhen warehouse address → place the Taobao order with that address → consolidate once everything arrives → freight = actual or volumetric weight × the current rate (sea from about NT$25/kg) → confirm the EZWay declaration, then delivery to your door. A customs value at or under NT$2,000 is usually exempt from duty and business tax; for electronics, batteries and food, check the restricted list and BSMI first.
"Customs prohibits import", "a permit or inspection is required" and "a particular logistics route will not carry it" are three different things. The table below lists common risks; it does not mean every item of that kind is prohibited. Before ordering, check the official import rules using the exact product name, composition, specification, quantity and intended use, then confirm route limits with the carrier.
| Category | Commonly risky items | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| 🔋 Batteries | Power banks, standalone lithium batteries, devices with built-in batteries | Battery type, capacity, packing and transport documents; rules differ by air/sea route |
| 🍷 Liquids | Perfume, alcohol, paint, sprays and other liquids | Whether it is dangerous goods, the capacity and composition, and whether the carrier may lawfully carry it |
| 🥩 Food | Meat products, dairy, seeds, plants and animals, and processed food | Animal and plant quarantine, TFDA food import rules, and personal-use conditions |
| 💊 Medicines | Medicines, Chinese herbal materials, tablet or capsule products | Product attributes, whether a prescription applies, personal-use quantity and TFDA approval rules |
| 🚭 Prohibited goods | E-cigarettes, drugs, firearms and ammunition, and other statutorily prohibited items | Prohibited or heavily restricted; should not be shipped |
| 📡 Communications equipment | Walkie-talkies, wireless equipment, certain drones and radio-frequency devices | NCC certification, frequency and personal-use import rules; jammers are separately prohibited |
| ⚖️ Counterfeits | Goods bearing counterfeit trademarks or infringing copyright | May be detained by customs and dealt with under infringement procedures case by case |

Why use consolidation for Taobao to Taiwan?
Some Taobao items can be sent by the seller directly or through the platform's own consolidation service; when the item, the route or a multi-platform order is not supported, a third-party consolidator is worth comparing. Check the routes offered at checkout, how restricted items are handled, the billing rules and the after-sales terms before deciding:
What is the difference between Tmall and Taobao?Tmall is Alibaba Group's B2C brand flagship platform. Sellers must be qualified businesses rather than individuals, pay a security deposit, and either own the trademark or have brand authorization. Its products mainly come from official and authorized stores. Taobao primarily serves C2C individual sellers and offers a broader range of prices, but shoppers must assess store quality themselves using reviews and product descriptions. Both platforms use the same Taobao account and shopping cart, allowing you to check out at once, although the system separates purchases into multiple orders by store. Most orders can also use a consolidation warehouse as the delivery address. Taobao and Tmall products shipped to Taiwan from the same batch of orders can therefore usually be delivered to the same consolidation warehouse, combined into one package, and shipped back together. Shipping is calculated using the higher of the package's actual weight and volumetric weight, so there is no need for two separate shipments. Some products from Tmall Supermarket, Tmall Global bonded warehouses, or official direct-shipping services have delivery-area restrictions. Before ordering, confirm that the store can deliver to the consolidation warehouse address.
🏪 Seller direct shipping
The seller or platform arranges cross-border delivery directly, so there are fewer steps. Whether Taiwan is supported, which items can be sent, the cost and the after-sales terms all follow what the Taobao checkout page shows.
📦 Private forwarding
Before committing, confirm the company details, the customs procedure, the prohibited-item rules, the billing and the compensation terms, and keep your order and payment records; do not compare chat quotes alone.
⭐ Consolidation service
A consolidator gives you a warehouse address in China; once your items arrive they can be boxed together and shipped back to Taiwan, which suits orders from several shops or platforms. When comparing, look at chargeable weight, minimum charge, handling of special items, tracking, customs procedure and claims terms.
How does Taobao consolidation to Taiwan work?
1Register and get a warehouse address
Go to create a HowBridge account, then get the currently valid recipient name, phone, postcode and address of the Shenzhen consolidation warehouse from your member center. Copy the details straight from the member center — do not use a warehouse address from an old article or supplied by someone else.
2Enter the warehouse address on Taobao
When shopping on Taobao, Tmall, Pinduoduo, 1688 and similar platforms, enter our Shenzhen warehouse address as the "delivery address". The key point: enter "好运器" as the "recipient name" (copy the Chinese name as-is) and, for the delivery address, use the personal ID-code address one-tap copied from the 0523.tw homepage after logging in — the platform's shipping label masks the name and phone with asterisks but never the address, so when the goods reach the warehouse the system matches them to your account by the H-code ID at the end of the address (the old format — a Taiwan mobile number at the end of the address — still works).
3Consolidate and ship once everything reaches the warehouse
Your orders arrive at the Shenzhen warehouse one by one, and you can track inbound status in the member center. Once everything has arrived, create a consolidation order: first check the weight, dimensions, item nature, available routes and the full quote measured by the warehouse, then decide whether to box them together.
4Customs clearance and delivery in Taiwan
From 1 March 2026 the Customs Administration has fully implemented "advance confirmation of mandate" for personal import simplified-declaration express consignments that use real-name verification and an online mandate (as at 30 November 2025 more than 3 million people had signed up and over 80% of declaration forms used it). Before a personal express shipment is declared, watch for the advance data in the EZWay App and check the house bill number, item name, quantity and declared value one by one; only tap "declaration matches" when they are correct. If anything is wrong or the parcel is not yours, tap "declaration does not match" and contact the customs broker. Even after customs releases the parcel, it still has to leave the warehouse, be sorted and go through last-mile delivery.

Official vs third-party consolidation — how to choose?
There are actually two routes for Taobao consolidation: the official consolidation built into the Taobao app (operated by platform logistics partners such as Cainiao), and private third-party consolidation, where you fill in a consolidator's warehouse address yourself. The entry point, the platforms you can combine and the flexibility all differ — get this clear before ordering so you don't fill in the wrong delivery address:
| Comparison | Official Taobao consolidation | Private (third-party) consolidation |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | Check out in the Taobao app or website, then combine parcels and pay the forwarding fee inside the system, all without leaving Taobao | When ordering, set the delivery address to the consolidator's warehouse in China (e.g. the HowBridge Shenzhen warehouse); after arrival, parcels are combined and shipped out in the consolidator's system |
| Orders you can combine | Mainly orders within the Taobao and Tmall ecosystem | Parcels from Taobao, Tmall, Pinduoduo, 1688, JD.com and other platforms can be combined at the same time |
| Large and special items | Subject to official forwarding limits on size, weight and category; large furniture and oversized parcels often cannot be carried | More flexible for large, high-volume and special-handling items; the accepted range follows each consolidator's published rules |
| Pickup in Taiwan | As shown in the delivery and pickup options at checkout | Home delivery, or 7-11/FamilyMart store pickup (HowBridge spec: up to 4.9 kg net and 105 cm total on three sides) |
| How to check rates | Real-time quote at Taobao checkout / on the official forwarding page | The consolidator's public pricing page (HowBridge sea express from NT$25/kg or NT$300 per cuft; the pricing page prevails) |
| Best for | Beginners with small parcels from a single platform who want to finish everything in the app | Buyers combining several platforms, shipping large or bulky items, and wanting to fine-tune cost and lead time |
Neither option is absolutely better: for small, single-platform orders the official consolidation is the easiest, while multi-platform combining and bulky parcels usually suit a third-party consolidator better. To compare consolidators in more detail, see the China consolidator comparison guide; you can estimate freight first with the consolidation cost calculator.
How is Taobao consolidation freight to Taiwan calculated? Air vs sea express
The published pricing page currently lists two options: air and sea express. Air is charged by weight band and distinguishes general from special items; sea express is quoted by kilogram or by cuft according to weight, volume and product attributes. Confirm the warehouse measurements first, then review the full costs:
Air (air express)
- Reference lead time: about 3–5 business days (excluding inspection, supplementary documents or holiday delays)
- Freight: current published rates are set by weight band and by general/special item
- Charging: the chargeable weight shown on the latest pricing page and in the system applies
- Before submitting: confirm whether batteries, liquids, powders and similar goods can travel on the chosen air route
Sea express
- Reference lead time: about 7–14 business days (excluding inspection, supplementary documents or holiday delays)
- Published reference: NT$25/kg by weight, or NT$300/cuft by volume
- Charging: quoted on weight, volume and product attributes; cuft can be estimated as length×width×height÷28317
- Before submitting: for bulky, fragile or specially handled cargo, confirm packing and surcharges first
Rates, minimum charges, delivery and value-added services follow the pricing plans page and the quote given when the consolidation order is created; if special packing or a carriage check is needed, contact customer service before despatch.
Is duty payable on Taobao consolidation? The duty-free threshold and EZWay
The NT$2,000 duty-free threshold
Where the low-value exemption applies, imported goods with a customs value of NT$2,000 or less are exempt from customs duty, business tax and commodity tax; tobacco and alcohol, tariff-quota agricultural products and frequent importing do not qualify. The customs value normally comprises the transaction price of the goods plus freight and insurance to the port of import. Above the threshold, tax is not charged only on the excess:
- Import duty: ad valorem goods are charged customs value × applicable rate; specific or compound duties must be calculated under the exact CCC tariff provisions
- Business tax: (customs value + duty + any commodity tax/tobacco and alcohol tax/health welfare surcharge) × 5%
- Trade promotion service fee: customs value × 0.04%; not collected where the amount payable or additionally assessed is NT$100 or less
Tariff lookup and EZWay real-name verification
If you are unsure of the rate, start with the 12,000+ tariff lookup tool to find candidate CCC codes, then verify the official tariff heading, rate column and import rules at the customs single window. Personal express shipments use EZWay for real-name verification and advance confirmation of the declaration mandate as required; completing it only allows the broker to proceed with the declaration and does not mean customs has released the goods.
- Download "EZWay" from the App Store / Google Play
- Complete real-name verification following the in-app screens and the latest Customs Administration guidance
- When the broker pushes a notification, check the house bill, product name, quantity and amount item by item; only select "declaration matches" if they are correct
The six-times-per-half-year rule and legal basis
⚠️ The "six times per half-year" rule: where the same taxpayer is released under the low-value exemption more than six times in the same half-year (January–June/July–December), importing is deemed frequent and the low-value exemption no longer applies thereafter; this does not mean the count alone automatically makes it a commercial import.
Want to know how many times you have already used the low-value exemption in the current half-year? You can check it yourself with the service offered by the Customs Single Window for querying the number of imports already released under the low-value exemption (Ministry of Finance press release, 2024-10-01).

How long does Taobao sea freight to Taiwan take? HowBridge measured data
Sea express normally takes about 7–14 business days from goods being received at the Shenzhen warehouse to delivery in Taiwan (including the sailing schedule, customs clearance and delivery); air takes about 3–5 business days. The pricing page and the checkout quote prevail.
Based on 2,369 real sea-freight shipment records from HowBridge (2025-11–2026-08, dispatch in China → signed for in Taiwan): the median delivery time is 7 days, with 56.7% signed for within 7 days, 78.2% within 10 days and 94.1% within 14 days.
On the clearance side: based on 894 measured sea-freight declarations, 86.4% were released within 24 hours of declaration and 94.7% within 48 hours; a shipment drawn for a C3 physical inspection takes roughly another 1–3 business days.
Methodology: two data sets — dispatch in China → signed for in Taiwan, and declaration → customs release — verified 2026-08-31; the clearance figures exclude the voyage before arrival in Taiwan and the delivery time after release. The sample consists of actual HowBridge shipment records and is recalculated and updated monthly.
Six things that commonly hold up Taobao consolidation to Taiwan
1. Looking only at the "3C" category without checking BSMI and NCC
Not all 3C products fall under the same rules, and seeing a commodity inspection mark does not mean every import method is acceptable. Confirm the exact CCC code, product type, intended use and import rules first, then check BSMI controlled goods and whether NCC certification applies; where necessary, confirm with the competent authority or your broker before paying.
2. Choosing a route without providing lithium battery specifications
Standalone batteries, power banks and batteries installed in devices differ in transport classification and packing requirements. Do not simplify "cannot go by ordinary air" into "can certainly go by sea instead"; provide the battery type, capacity, quantity and documentation so the carrier can confirm which routes are available.
3. Applying the same quantity rule to food, tablets and capsules, medicines and cosmetics
Different products may be classified as food, medicine, medical devices or cosmetics, and personal-use conditions and quantity limits differ accordingly; meat and animal or plant products may also involve quarantine. Confirm the product attributes, composition, dosage form and quantity against the current TFDA and quarantine authority rules, rather than relying on a single "how many kilos/how many bottles" rule of thumb circulating on social media.
4. Buying goods that appear counterfeit or infringing
Where customs finds goods suspected of infringing trademarks or copyright, it deals with them under case procedures and may detain them and notify the rights holder. Prefer official or authorised stores whose provenance can be evidenced, and keep the order, invoice and payment records; do not assume small quantities for personal use are necessarily risk-free.
5. Comparing only the per-kilogram rate without reading the full terms
Before creating a consolidation order, confirm the company and contact details, chargeable weight, minimum charge, delivery and remote-area surcharges, prohibited-item rules, storage period, tracking method and the compensation cap for loss or damage. Keeping the pricing page and the checkout breakdown gives you something to check against if a dispute arises.
6. Under-declaring or misdescribing goods, leading to back taxes and penalties
Where customs finds that the declared price, product name, quantity or origin does not match the actual goods, it may assess back taxes and impose penalties case by case. Enter the specific product name and price truthfully when creating the consolidation order and keep the Taobao order, payment, freight and product specifications; do not ask sellers or consolidators to split orders, under-declare or substitute vague product names.

How to Pay Your Freight Bill: Methods and Full Process
Once your parcels have been consolidated and shipped, the system issues a freight bill for that batch. You can settle it online by card or bank transfer; a successful payment clears the bill automatically, so there is no need to report the last five digits of a transfer. Below are the payment methods currently available, every step of the process, and what online payment on this site may be used for.
Online payment on this site is used solely to pay consolidated freight and related logistics service fees (international freight, forwarding, domestic delivery, customs clearance and warehousing-related service fees). We do not collect payment for your goods, we do not pay sellers on your behalf, and we are not a party to your transaction with the seller. Payment for items bought on Taobao, Tmall, 1688, Pinduoduo or any other platform must still be made to the seller through that platform as usual. We charge only for the logistics service of moving your goods from the warehouse to you.

How online payment works
-
A freight bill is issued after your parcels ship
Once your parcels have been received at the consolidation warehouse, packed and shipped, the system issues a freight bill for that batch, covering international freight, forwarding and domestic delivery charges.
-
Sign in and open "My Bills"
Sign in to your account and open My Bills to see the amount due, the number of parcels and a line-by-line breakdown of the charges before you pay.
-
Tap "Pay Now" to open the secure checkout
The checkout shows the parcels being settled and the total due once more, and lists the available payment methods. Amounts are always calculated on the server, so they never vary by device or browser.
-
Choose a payment method and complete payment
You are then taken to the payment page for the method you chose. Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are completed on the NewebPay page; choosing LINE Pay takes you to the LINE Pay payment page, where you simply confirm in the LINE app; choosing ATM transfer gives you a dedicated virtual account, bank code and payment deadline; choosing convenience-store code payment gives you a payment code to print the slip at a store kiosk and pay at the counter. Please complete non-instant payments before the deadline. If you choose Taiwan Pay or E.SUN Wallet, a QR code appears — pay by scanning it in the matching app; the page will not return to our site afterwards, and your bill updates once the payment notification arrives.
-
The bill clears automatically
On successful payment the gateway notifies us immediately and the bill switches to paid, so there is no need to report the last five digits of a transfer. ATM transfers update automatically once the bank posts the funds.
All payments are completed on the NewebPay or LINE Pay payment page. We never receive or store your full card number or security code, and every connection is TLS-encrypted. If you have paid but the bill has not updated yet, please do not pay again: methods that are not instant take time to clear by design. Contact customer service and we will check it for you.
