Will a Wrong Delivery Address Get My Package Returned? What to Do When Your Consolidation Address Is Wrong
It can happen. If a home-delivery address is wrong and the courier can't find the house number, delivery may be delayed, and packages that ultimately fail delivery are returned to HowBridge's Taoyuan operations warehouse; for convenience-store pickup, parcels not collected within 7 days of arrival are returned. Before the consolidation order is submitted, simply editing the recipient is the easiest fix; if it has already been submitted, contact customer service as soon as possible.
When you enter a home-delivery address, HowBridge checks it in real time against Ministry of the Interior TGOS house-number data: if the house number exists, the registered form is shown; if not, candidates are listed or you are asked to confirm — but you are never blocked from submitting. How returns and address changes are handled afterwards, and whether any fees apply, depends on the rules of our partner logistics provider and the home-delivery courier; the reply from customer service prevails.

Quick answer: what happens if the delivery address is wrong? Will the package be returned?
A wrong delivery address does not necessarily mean a return, but if the home-delivery courier cannot find the house number or cannot reach the recipient, the package may be delayed or rescheduled for another delivery; packages that ultimately fail delivery are returned to HowBridge's Taoyuan operations warehouse. For convenience-store pickup, you must collect the parcel within 7 days of its arrival at the store, or it will be returned.
Home delivery vs. convenience store: what happens when the address or store is wrong?
After HowBridge packages clear customs in Taiwan, last-mile delivery goes one of two ways: “home delivery” or “convenience-store pickup (7-ELEVEN, FamilyMart (全家)).” Mistakes happen in different places, and the consequences differ too:
| Home delivery | Convenience-store pickup | |
|---|---|---|
| Where mistakes usually happen | The address itself: a missing section, lane or alley, a mistyped house number, or the wrong city/county or district selected | The store address is filled in directly from the system's store list, so it can't be mistyped; what can go wrong is selecting the wrong store, a pickup name that doesn't match your ID, or a phone number that isn't a mobile number starting with 09 |
| What happens if it's wrong | Home-delivery couriers deliver the shipment to “the address designated by the recipient,” where the recipient or an authorized person signs for it (Hsinchu Logistics (新竹物流) Receiving Notes); if the address is so wrong that the door can't be found, the shipment can't be delivered and may be delayed or rescheduled, and failed deliveries are returned to HowBridge's Taoyuan operations warehouse | The parcel only goes to the store you selected; after it arrives, you must pick it up at that store within the deadline, and the name must match your ID |
| What happens if nothing is done | Packages that fail delivery are returned to HowBridge's Taoyuan operations warehouse; how they are then re-delivered to the correct address, and whether any fees apply and how much, is subject to customer service's reply | Both convenience-store chains' published store-to-store rules say parcels not picked up within 7 days of arrival are returned (7-ELEVEN: “If the recipient does not collect the item within 7 days of arrival, it will be returned to the original sending store”; FamilyMart: “Shipments not collected within seven days of arriving at the pickup store will be returned to the original sending store”); the actual last pickup date for HowBridge parcels is the one in your pickup text message |
| Will you be blocked before submitting | No. The system checks the house number in real time and alerts you; if the house number is not found, you can still save by ticking “I confirm this address is correct” | The store must be selected from the list; if the total weight of the bag exceeds the convenience store's limit, the consolidation order is blocked at the moment you submit it — please switch to home delivery or split the order |
Sources for the official quotations are listed under “Basis and sources” on this page. The 7-day rules for 7-ELEVEN and FamilyMart come from the two chains' shipping service notes; HowBridge's convenience-store parcels go through a separate partner channel, and the actual deadline is the one in your pickup notice. For details, see Convenience-store pickup for consolidation packages.
The six most common address mistakes
These are the most common mistakes when filling in a Taiwan delivery address, and how HowBridge's home-delivery recipient fields alert you when they happen (the alert texts are the actual wording in the website's Member Center):
1. Wrong city/county or district selected
For example, selecting 桃園區 (Taoyuan District) instead of 桃園市中壢區 (Zhongli District, Taoyuan City), or keeping your old city/county after moving. Even if the street and house number are correct, a wrong city/county or district will return no match. HowBridge then runs a nationwide match, and if it finds the address elsewhere it alerts you: “No such street in “[City] [District]”. This address may be in:” followed by the possible cities/counties and districts.
2. Missing section, lane or alley, or a mistyped house number
The same road is often split into several sections: “中正路 100 號” (No. 100, Zhongzheng Rd.) and “中正路二段 100 號” (No. 100, Sec. 2, Zhongzheng Rd.) can be several kilometers apart. When the system finds the closest house numbers on the same street segment, “Did you mean:” appears with candidates; a candidate only means “closest,” not that it is your home — go by your actual house number.
3. Only the street or community name, no house number
Home delivery needs a house number. If the address field only has a street name, the system shows “Please enter the street name and house number.” and does not send a query. You may include a community or building name, but it cannot replace the house number.
4. Renumbered or new house numbers
After a city or county renames roads or reassigns house numbers, an old house number may not be found in the data; for newly completed buildings, the house number may not be recorded yet either. In that case, you can first check with the Department of Household Registration's “Village/Street House Number Lookup” (see Section 7), and once you're sure it's correct, save as usual.
5. Floors and “之 1” sub-numbers
“3 樓” (3rd floor), “5F,” “之1” (sub-number) and “-1” don't affect house-number matching, but please be sure to include them — matching only confirms that the building's house number exists; which floor and unit the courier delivers to depends on the floor and unit number you write.
6. Wrong convenience store selected or pickup details don't match
Stores with similar names and the store you used before moving are the easiest to select by mistake. The pickup name must match your ID, and the phone number should be a Taiwan mobile number starting with 09 so you receive the arrival text message.
How to fix it: depends on where your package is
The earlier you notice, the easier it is to fix. What to do depends on your package's current progress:
1Consolidation order not yet created: just edit the recipient yourself
Edit the address under “Member Center › Recipients” on the website or on the app's recipient page and save; the system re-checks the house number. For recipients added through the LINE Consolidation Assistant, edit the address in the Member Center or the app. Existing recipient records are not re-checked automatically — edit and save once more and they will be checked.
2Consolidation order submitted, still in the warehouse or clearing customs: contact customer service right away
Please contact customer service via HowBridge's LINE Official Account (@0523tw) and provide the consolidation order number and the correct address. Changing only the recipient details in the Member Center does not mean the submitted consolidation order, customs declaration data or shipping label will change accordingly; whether and how it can be changed is subject to customer service's confirmation.
3Already handed to the home-delivery courier: follow the logistics provider's process
Once the package is handed to the courier, address changes, rescheduling or self-pickup must follow the processes of our partner logistics provider and the courier; it may not be possible to change, and extra fees may apply. Please contact customer service, who will check with the logistics side. If delivery ultimately fails, the package is returned to HowBridge's Taoyuan operations warehouse, and customer service will confirm how it will be re-delivered. For how long delivery takes after leaving the warehouse, see Hsinchu Logistics home delivery and transit times after customs clearance.
4Already arrived at the convenience store: pick it up at that store
Once the parcel has arrived, it can only be collected at that store; please pick it up within the deadline stated in your pickup text message. For how parcels returned after the deadline are handled, please contact customer service.
Postal standard address, household-registration house number, 3+3 postal code: what's the difference?
These three are often confused, but they are three separate datasets built by the Ministry of the Interior (內政部) and Chunghwa Post (中華郵政) for different purposes. Simply put: the household-registration house number answers “does this house number exist,” the 3+3 postal code answers “which delivery segment should the mail be sorted to,” and the postal standard address answers “what form of the address does the post office have on record”.
| Household-registration house number (戶政門牌; house-number location data) | 3+3 postal code (6 digits) | Postal standard address | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who built it | A house-number location database built by city and county governments with Ministry of the Interior (MOI) funding; matching is provided through the MOI's TGOS platform | Chunghwa Post | Chunghwa Post's “National Standard Postal Address Service Platform” (全國標準郵遞地址服務平臺) |
| Purpose | Confirm whether a house number exists, and get its coordinates and the registered form including village and neighborhood | Mail sorting: the first 3 digits are the administrative district; the last 3 are coded by delivery segment (odd numbers, even numbers, or consecutive numbers) | The standard written form of an address used for mail delivery |
| Can it confirm a house number exists | Yes: an exact-match hit means this house number is in the house-number location data; however, it contains no postal code and no floor | No: it only goes down to the delivery segment. Chunghwa Post states that lookup results are “only for reference when writing mail items and for sorting by our mail processing departments (please do not use them as the basis for writing for other purposes)” | It only shows whether the post office has recorded this form; the post office's coverage is not published, and “not found” does not mean the house number doesn't exist |
| How the public can look it up | The Department of Household Registration's “Village/Street House Number Lookup” and the MOI's Address Identification Code System | Chunghwa Post's “Postal Code Lookup” page | Chunghwa Post's “National Standard Postal Address Service Platform” |
When you ship a consolidation package, home delivery relies on the correct city/county, district, street name and house number; the 3-digit postal code corresponds to the district, and HowBridge fills it in automatically once you select the city/county and district — you don't need to look up the 6-digit code. None of these three datasets is the sole judge of whether an address is correct; if they disagree, go by the actual house number on your home.
How does HowBridge check your address as you type?
When you add or edit a “home delivery” recipient on HowBridge, the system sends the city/county, district and address to be matched against the Ministry of the Interior's TGOS house-number data, and shows the result below the address field less than 1 second after you stop typing.
1Based mainly on Ministry of the Interior TGOS house-number matching
On September 21, 2026, HowBridge passed the review for the Ministry of the Interior's TGOS “Nationwide House Number Matching Service” (全國門牌位置比對服務) and went live. If the house number exists, it shows “Matched to a registered house number” together with the registered form including village and neighborhood; the registered form is only for you to check against — it does not rewrite the address you entered, and the shipping label still prints what you filled in.
2If not found: candidates, or a hint that the city/county or district may be wrong
If there are close house numbers on the same street segment, “Did you mean:” lists candidates you can apply with one tap; if the street isn't found in the city/county and district you selected but exists in another, you are told you may have selected the wrong city/county or district. If nothing is found at all, “Address not found” is shown, and you can still save as usual by ticking “I confirm this address is correct.”
3Street View preview when coordinates are available
If matching succeeds and Google Street View is available for the location, a “Street view” panel appears so you can check whether the entrance is really your home; Street View is only an aid, and seeing “No street view for this address” does not affect saving.
4The same check on the website, app and LINE
The website's Member Center and the app show results in real time as you type; when you add a home-delivery recipient with the LINE Consolidation Assistant (“Recipients / Declarants”), the result is shown on the confirmation card first — matched to a house number, candidates you can “Use,” or, if not found, the “I confirm the address is correct – save” button — so you see it before saving. Store addresses for convenience-store pickup are filled in from store data and are not matched separately.
How to read the four check results, the difference between exact and fuzzy matching, and where address data is sent and how long it is kept are fully explained in HowBridge passes the Ministry of the Interior TGOS house-number matching review: real-time nationwide house-number checks when you enter a delivery address; this page does not repeat them.
Want to look up a house number yourself? Using the official tools
If you've just moved, your house number was recently renumbered, or the system shows “Address not found” and you want to double-check, you can use these three official tools:
- Confirm a house number exists, look up old and new house numbers: the Ministry of the Interior Department of Household Registration's Village/Street House Number Lookup (村里街路門牌查詢). You can search house-number data by city/county, district and street name.
- Look up an address identification code: the Ministry of the Interior Address Identification Code System (地址識別碼系統), an address lookup portal provided by the Ministry of the Interior.
- Look up a postal code (3 digits or 3+3): Chunghwa Post's Postal Code Lookup (郵遞區號查詢); the “National Standard Postal Address Service Platform” (全國標準郵遞地址服務平臺) linked on that page shows the standard forms on record with the post office.
Your actual house number is the one on the plate at your door; if official data doesn't match it, fill in the actual house number and tick “I confirm this address is correct” on HowBridge.
Address checklist before submitting a consolidation order
- The city/county and district are where you live now — not an old address or your household-registration address
- The street name includes the “section” (段), the lane, alley and number are all there, and the digits are typed correctly
- The floor, unit number and “之 1” sub-number are included
- The recipient's name and phone number are correct, and the phone is a mobile number that can receive text messages
- The home-delivery address shows “Matched to a registered house number,” or you have confirmed why it shows “Address not found”
- For convenience-store parcels: the store is the one you will pick up from, and the pickup name matches your ID
- The correct recipient is selected on the consolidation order (take extra care with the default recipient if you have several)
Glossary
- Undeliverable
- When a home delivery or mail item cannot reach the recipient because of a wrong address, unknown recipient, nobody available to receive it, and so on. Postal mail is handled under the Postal Handling Regulations (郵件處理規則), while home-delivery couriers follow their own terms of carriage and contracts; the rules differ.
- Household-registration house number (戶政門牌; house-number location data)
- House-number location data of about 8 million records nationwide, built by city and county governments with Ministry of the Interior funding; it is the data source for TGOS house-number matching. Match results include village and neighborhood, but not the postal code or floor.
- TGOS house-number matching
- The “Nationwide House Number Matching Service” on the Ministry of the Interior's “Taiwan Geospatial One-Stop (TGOS)” platform; HowBridge uses it to check whether the house number of a home-delivery address exists.
- 3+3 postal code
- Chunghwa Post's 6-digit postal code: the first 3 digits are the administrative district and the last 3 are coded by delivery segment; lookup results are for writing and sorting mail.
- Postal standard address
- The standard written form of a postal address recorded on Chunghwa Post's “National Standard Postal Address Service Platform”; it can only be found if the post office has recorded it, and “not found” does not mean the house number doesn't exist.
- House-number renumbering
- When city and county governments rename roads or reassign house numbers under their own road-naming and house-numbering ordinances; after renumbering, old house numbers may not be found in the data — you can check using the Department of Household Registration's house-number lookup.
- Chunghwa Post (中華郵政), “Postal Code Lookup” (郵遞區號查詢): 3+3 codes are assigned by delivery segment — “‘Odd’ refers to odd-numbered house numbers (lanes), ‘even’ refers to even-numbered house numbers (lanes), and ‘consecutive’ includes both ‘odd’ and ‘even’ house numbers (lanes)”; lookup results are “only for reference when writing mail items and for sorting by our mail processing departments (please do not use them as the basis for writing for other purposes)”; the page links to the “National Standard Postal Address Service Platform.” post.gov.tw

FAQ
This page explains how HowBridge recipient addresses are filled in and checked and does not constitute any guarantee of delivery. How returns, address changes and re-deliveries are handled, and any fees, depend on the rules of our partner logistics provider, home-delivery couriers and convenience stores; HowBridge customer service's reply prevails. HowBridge only has a Shenzhen consolidation warehouse and a Taoyuan operations warehouse, and only offers China → Taiwan consolidation shipping.
